Wealth-X’s 2019 High Net Worth Handbook offers insight into the habits and preferences of high-net-worth (HNW) individuals—those with a net worth between $1 million and $30 million. New York City ranks highest as the preferred residence for HNW individuals, hosting 65 percent more millionaires than Tokyo, the second-ranked city. Overall, the United States dominates the top cities list: six of the top ten are U.S. cities. While men still make up the majority of HNW individuals, the number of women and self-made individuals is rising. Nearly 90 percent of this group have net worths between $1 million and $5 million.
Wealth-X analyzed interests, passions and hobbies across the HNW segment to identify the 20 most popular pursuits and the share of individuals who express interest in each. These interests often align with careers and reflect a continued desire for learning and personal growth.
7.4 Percent of HNW Individuals Are Interested In Languages
